Obituaries: Detroit Area (MI) - June 29, 2008 Deceased Name: PRICE HENRY D Age 95, a resident of Franklin Village, West Bloomfield, and Bloomfield Hills for more than 50 years, died June 16, 2008 in Houston, Texas. He was married to Constance Marcotte Price (died 1968) and later to Dorothy Dworski Price (died 2001). Each marriage lasted more than 25 years. He is survived by three children, Jeanine (Philip) Watrous, Henry (Maryann), and Donald (Marilyn) and six grandchildren. Mr. Price grew up in rural Kansas and graduated from University of Kansas School of Business in 1936. In WWII, he served in both the Pacific and European theaters rising to the rank of Lt. Colonel. After the war, he worked for the Internal Revenue Service, becoming Assistant District Commissioner in charge of Michigan and neighboring states. He later became a successful tax and financial consultant in Pontiac and Bloomfield Hills. Mr. Price was an avid reader throughout his life, enjoying mostly classics and histories, especially military histories. He was also interested in historical coins, especially those mentioned in the Bible. In later years, he travelled extensively, going around the world twice and visiting all 50 states and more than 50 countries. Mr. Price's charitable legacy includes the Henry D. Price Professor Chair at the University of Kansas School of Business, the Henry and Dorothy Price Surgical Center at St. Joseph Mercy - Oakland Hospital, and an addition dedicated to him in the business library at Oakland University. Funeral mass will be at Our Lady of Refuge Parish, 3750 Commerce Rd. in Orchard Lake at 10:00 AM on Tuesday July 1. The family will receive visitors immediately before the mass, from 9:00AM to 10:00AM.
