Lloyd Arnim Jilek passed away at Lavaca Medical Center in Hallettsville on Monday, January 27, 1997. Born in Yoakum on January 29, 1906, he was the son of Adolph and Frieda (Herder) Jilek. In 1924 he graduated from school in Humble. He was married to Virginia Hickey on August 9, 1926 in Yoakum. A 56 year resident of Fayette County, he had lived in Yoakum, Harlingen, San Benito (1928), Kenedy (1937-1940), Flatonia (1940-1941), Moulton (1941-1945) and Schulenburg (1945 until his death). Retired at the time of his death, he was an electrician for the Lower Colorado River Authority. He was a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus and Lions Club. He received the Scouting awards of Silver Beaver, St. George and Ad Altari Dei Medals. He was preceded in death by infant twin sons, Harry and Larry Jilek; two grandchildren, Jerome A Jilek and Barbara Graycochea; brother, Arnim Lloyd Jilek and parents. Survivors include his wife; a son and daughter in law, James and Athaline Jilek of Jacksonville, Florida; three daughters and a son in law, Sister Joyce Jilek of Columbus, Margaret and Clint Citzler of Irving and Shirley Pavlik of Snyder; nine grandchildren: Sally Bailey, Mary Jilek, Ann Jilek, Mark Citzler, Greg Pavlik, Stan Pavlik, Carol Citzler, John Pavlik and Roger Pavlik and seven great-grandchildren. Pallbearers were Mark Citzler and John Pavlik of Irving, Greg Pavlik of Vacaville, California, and Stan Pavlik and Roger Pavlik of Snyder, all grandsons; and Rev. Andrew Stafford of Schulenburg.
