Danny was born in Sherman to Harold Davis Hill and Rubye Louise (Griffin) and went to meet his Lord and Savior on Sunday, December 30, 2012 after a courageous and hard fought battle with an illness. Danny grew up and graduated high school in Westminster, Texas. Danny's mother was the Postmaster there for 34 years. After attending one year at Clarendon Jr. College, Danny married the love of his life, Kathryn Lackey, on November 9, 1962, and they celebrated 50 years of unity last month. They've lived in the Van Alstyne and Tom Bean area during their marriage. Danny began his employment for T.I. in Dallas in 1964 and spent 16 years there before coming to Sherman and worked a total of 18 years working for T.I. with the merge of MEMC retiring in 1998. He came out of retirement shortly, and began working for Cutter Systems/G.C.E.C. in Van Alstyne for 7 years. Danny was a family man who loved his family unconditionally. He was a faithful husband, father, and a grandfather who dearly loved his grandkids. Danny was a Godly man and touched the lives of so many people that he came in contact with. He and Kathryn are members of the Tom Bean Church of Christ in which he served as an elder for several years and doing church work was a passion he loved. Family and friends can attest that Danny could be rarely seen without his cowboy hat, starched jeans and boots, some people called him 'Cowboy'. Danny enjoyed fishing, hunting, golfing, scuba diving and horseback riding. Danny was preceded in death by his parents and a grandson, Samuel Lopez. He is survived by his loving wife, Kathryn, of Tom Bean; two daughters, Mary Beth Lopez and her husband Sergio of Howe, and Jeannie LeDane and her husband Andy of Tom Bean, Texas; son, Danny Hill Jr. and his wife Rebekah of Murphy; grandchildren, Katelyn Hall and her husband Brandon, Ashlyn LeDane, Logan LeDane, Sergio Noe Lopez, Sara Lopez, Luke Lopez, Ethan Lopez, Holly Hill and Hudson Hill; a great granddaughter, Alyssa Lopez; two sisters, Ruth Gray of Westminster, and Margaret Milam of Ann;, three brothers, Harold Davis Hill and his wife Jean of Van Alstyne, Billy Hill and Eddie Hill both of Westminster, and a host of extended family and church family. Danny's family asks that memorials be made to Tom Bean Church of Christ Mission Fund, P.O. Box 507, Tom Bean, TX 75489. An online guest register may be signed at www.waldofuneralhome.com. Services are under the direction of Waldo Funeral Home. Published in The Herald Democrat on December 31, 2012
