Hiram Dillard Brown, 59, a transient railroad worker, died Friday noon in the men's waiting room at the Burlington Railroad station. A Social Security card in the man's billfold listed his address as Clinton, IA. Galesburg police authorities learned Mr. Brown had a brother, Dorsey Brown, who resides at Glasgow, near Winchester, and a son living in the latter city. It was also learned the man was a veteran of World War I, and information is to the effect that at one time he was at the Soldiers and Sailors Home in Quincy. A card found on his person and dated October 27, 1953, entitled him to member privileges at the Veterans Administration Center, Wadsworth, KS. Dr. Jackson K Erffmeyer, deputy Knox County coroner, was summoned to the railroad station and pronounced the man dead. The body was taken to the Kimber and West Chapel, from where it was taken today to the Cunningham Funeral Home at Winchester for funeral services and burial. GALESBURG REGISTER-MAIL: JANUARY 2, 1954
