Born in the village of Albrechtice, town of Vl. Tyn, county of Budejovice, Bohemia, Austrian Empire (now in Czechia). ''''''''''''' Butler County Press (David City, Nebr.), July 13, 1916, p. 1, col. 6 DEATH OF FRANCIS VODRASKA He Died at His Home Near Edholm Saturday, July 8. After an illness of ten months Francis Maximilian Vodraska, a former David City resident, died at his home near Edholm last Saturday evening about 8 o'clock. Funeral services were held Monday morning at 10 o'clock in the Appleton Catholic church and were conducted by Rev. Father Zalud, of Bruno. The pall bearers were James Hajek, B. Kopecky, J. Kozisek, Joseph Mashek, James Masek and Anton Swoboda. Burial was in Appleton cemetery. Mrs. Vodraska and seven children survive Mr. Vodraska. The children are Mrs. William Bates, Mrs. A. E. Etting and Mrs. Ernest Harmon of David City, Mrs. Charles Haynes of Omaha, Mrs. R. I. Boston of Denver, Colo., and Miss Minnie and E. J. Vodraska living at home. In Hladma, Bohemia, was where Mr. Vodraska was born. October 12, 1848, is the date of his birth. He came to America in 1866 and located in Iowa. On October 14, 1870, in Decorah, Iowa, he and Mrs. Vodraska were married. They came to Butler county in 1872 and took residence upon the present Vodraska farm near Edholm which was then homestead land. In 1884 they moved to David City and Mr. Vodraska practiced law with the firm of Roberts & Libbett. After a few years he and his family returned to the farm and have since lived there. Mr. Vodraska was a member of the Catholic church. '''''''''''' People's Banner (David City, Nebr.), July 13, 1916, p. 2, col. 4 EDHOLM. Mr. Woodraska who has been ill for sometime with cancer of the stomach, died Saturday night. The funeral was held Monday at 10 o'clock at the Appleton church.
