Edna M. Oaks, 84, died on December 26, 2012 at the Torrington Community Hospital. Edna was born on April 22, 1928 in Sargent, Nebraska the daughter of Howard E. and Viola J. (Peters) Morgan. She started school at Sargent and when her family moved to Torrington, Wyoming, Edna continued her education in Torrington. She married Ralph Oaks in Torrington on October 3, 1944 and the couple farmed near Veteran, Wyoming. They later moved in to Torrington and in 1971, Edna became a Police Dispatcher and then went on to become the first female police officer in Torrington. Her husband died in 1976, and in 1984 Edna moved to Canyon Valley, Oregon where she owned a fabric store. In 1994 she retired and returned to Torrington. Edna enjoyed crocheting, sewing, and making quilts. She also liked to cook and she was the treasurer of the Community Care & Share. She is survived by her daughter, Norma (Tracy) Lampman of Torrington; her two sons, Larry (Barb) Oaks of Torrington, and Raymond Oaks of Jackson, Wyoming; two brothers, Francis (Charlotte) Morgan and Jerry (Joyce) Morgan all of Riddle, Oregon; two sisters, Mary Cress of Colorado Springs, CO., and Donna Nelson of Torrington; 11 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, and three great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a daughter, Joyce Bubolt, three brothers, Lloyd, Frank and Deanie Morgan, a granddaughter, Renee Lovato and one great grandson, Sean Riley.
