Peoria Journal Star newspaper, Peoria, Peoria County, Illinois, USA. Tuesday, July 24, 2001. PEORIA - Dr. Donald F. Anderson, 85, of 3711 N. Harvard died at 3:35 a.m. Monday, July 23, 2001, at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center. Born May 20, 1916, in Muskogee, Okla., to Clarence and Ruth McCreery Anderson, he married Evangeline M. Sypal on Jan. 12, 1942, in St. Louis. She survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Donna Anderson of Brookfield and Mary Linda Anderson of Oak Park; two sons, Dr. Donald (and Mary Ellen) of Fishers, Ind., and Dr. David (and Ann Marie) of St. Louis; and three grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one sister. A World War II Navy veteran, he served aboard the destroyer USS Phelps in the South Pacific, attaining the rank of commander. He was a member of the St. Francis Department of Radiology from 1948 to 1986, serving as chairman from 1967 to 1977. He graduated from the University of Illinois in Champaign in 1936 and St. Louis University Medical School in 1940. He was a fellow of the American College of Radiology and a longtime member of the Board of Counselors. He was a member of the Radiological Society of North America, Illinois Medical Society and Peoria Medical Society. He was a member of St. Thomas Catholic Church in Peoria Heights. A funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Franciscan Friars will officiate. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Wright & Salmon Mortuary, with a Scripture service at 7:30 p.m. Visitation also will be 30 minutes before services at the church. Entombment will be in Resurrection Mausoleum. Memorials may be made to the St. Thomas Church Building Fund.
