Friedel, Anton Lewis Military Services For Cpl. Friedel Held Here Monday Catholic and military funeral services for Cpl. Anton Lewis Friedel, victim of the tragic grenade accident on Harvey's Creek last Saturday, were held Monday morning at Hubbard Funeral Home and St. Michael's Catholic church, with interment in St, Michael's Cemetery. Msgr. Anthony Drozd officiated in the services. Legion and VFW members conducted graveside rites. Born July 31, 1934, at Fort Worth, Cpl. Friedel was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Anton Friedel. Later they lived at Ganado, and about 8 years ago moved to the Weimar area. At Weimar High School he was an outstanding athlete and popular with his classmates. After his junior year--on July 16, 1952--he entered the Army, his last post being Camp Roberts, California. Assigned to an artillery unit, he was to have gone overseas in February, after his furlough at home. Surviving in addition to his parents are his sister, Irene, 17, and two brothers, Jody, 14, and Bennie, 12. Members of the two veterans' organizations here served as pallbearers. They included Willie Kobersky, Leroy Slubar, Daniel Heger, Jim Heger, Gus Beck, and Herbert Rerich.
