Willard Nelson Posted: Saturday, May 26, 2001 LITTLE FALLS -- Willard Nelson, 79, Little Falls, died Thursday, May 24, 2001, at the Veterans Medical Center in St. Cloud. He was born Sept. 27, 1921, in Little Falls to Knute and Anna (Hahn) Nelson. He grew up near Freedhem and attended country school. He entered the Army in 1942 and was a medical technician during World War II until his discharge in 1945. He married Bernice A. Kronbeck on Nov. 19, 1955, in Sisseton, S.D. He worked at Crestliner Boat Works in Little Falls in the finishing department for 26 years until his retirement in 1981. His wife died June 25, 1981. He remained in Little Falls. He was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church and a life member of the Little Falls VFW Post No. 1112. Survivors include a daughter, Ginger Fietek, Little Falls; seven brothers, Charles Nelson, Brooklyn Center, Clarence Nelson, Motley, Leonard Nelson, Backus, Jack Nelson, Lake Havasu, Ariz., Jerry Nelson, Wyoming, Minn., Glenn Nelson, Brainerd, and Richard Nelson, Little Falls; four sisters, Ila Erickson, San Diego, Calif., Jeanette Carlson, Minneapolis, Margaret Williams, Minneapolis, and Evelyn Cook, Greensboro, N.C.; and two grandchildren. His wife and an infant son died earlier. Services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Zion Lutheran Church in Little Falls with the Rev. Martin Langemo officiating. Burial will be in the Oakland Cemetery in Little Falls. Military rites will be provided by the Little Falls VFW Post No. 1112. Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Shelley Funeral Chapel in Little Falls and from noon until services Wednesday at the church.
