Charles Ray Davis, 2 year old son of Mr. and Mrs. C.L. Davis, drowned in a stock tank in the farmyard of his home, 5 miles southeast of Canadian, Friday morning, soon after telling his mother he was going to make corn bread and pies for dinner. The youngster was playing near the tank, making mud pies, while his mother worked in a garden near-by. They called back and forth to each other. His mother became alarmed at not hearing Charles Ray at his play and rushed to the stock tank where she found his body. There was about 28 inches of water in the tank, it was said. Mrs. Davis rushed with the boy's body to Canadian in a car. At the hospital every effort was made to revive life, but without success. Funeral services were conducted from the home Saturday morning at 10 o'clock with Rev. W.A. Fitz, pastor of The First Baptist Church, officiating. The body was taken to Shamrock for burial.
