Funeral services for Mrs. Virgie E. Cook, 54, a resident of Shamrock for 12 years, were conducted at 2:30 p.m. Monday in the Fundamental Methodist Church. Mrs. Cook died Saturday night at her home, 211 1/2 East Second Street. Officiating at the last rites was the Rev. Nina Hervey, pastor of the Bible Methodist Church. Serving as pallbearers were: Bob Roach Jr., Willis Gowin, Owen Young, Jimmy Blakemore, Carl Henry and Pike Smith. Interment was in Shamrock Cemetery with Richerson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. A native Texas, Mrs. Cook was born at Dyke in Hopkins County, March 27, 1911, and was married January 9, 1937, to W.C. (Bud) Cook of Wellington. They moved to Shamrock from Wellington in 1953. Her husband preceded her in death, August 22, 1960. Mrs. Cook was a member of the Fundamental Methodist Church. Survivors include: two step-daughters, Mrs. Edward Washam of Alice, and Mrs. Helen Cook of Rowlett; three sisters, Mrs. Iva Mae Rush of Shamrock, Mrs. Roy Crump of Dallas, and Mrs. Roe Stroud of Muleshoe; and a brother, John L Hilburn of Springdale, Ark.
