Breckenridge, Tx. - Evelyn Simmons, age 82 of Breckenridge, passed away Sunday, December 9, 2012 at her residence. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m., Wednesday, December 12th at First Baptist Church with Rev. Cecil Harper and Rev. Jason Martin officiating. Interment will follow in the Breckenridge Cemetery under the direction of Morehart Mortuary. Visitation will be held from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m., Tuesday, December 11th at Morehart Mortuary. Evelyn Marie Karl was born April 16, 1930 in Hamilton County, Texas to parents A.N. Karl and Mary Cole Karl. She graduated from Fort Worth High School. Evelyn married Henry Alton "Al" Simmons on January 4, 1949 in Breckenridge. In 1966, the Simmons family moved to Breckenridge from Jacksonville, Florida. Mrs. Simmons worked as the Stephens County Auditor for many years. She was a member of First Baptist Church where she served as assistant treasurer. Mrs. Simmons was also a member of The Woman's Forum, Stephens County 4H Adult Leader, State of Texas County Auditor's Association, and she was a supporter of the Breckenridge Boys Choir. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband. Mrs. Simmons is survived by her three loving children, James Simmons and wife Judy of Aurora City, Kevin Simmons and wife Lou of Breckenridge, and Terry Sullivan and husband Mitchell of Breckenridge; one brother, Jerry Karl and wife Virginia of Breckenridge; nine grandchildren, Nathan Simmons and wife Julie, Elizabeth Simmons, Paxton Sullivan, Vance Sullivan, Anda Sullivan, Cade Sullivan and wife Meagan, Kelby Sullivan, Taylor Simmons, and Tyler Simmons; and one great grandson, Nathan Alexander Simmons. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Stephens Memorial Hospital and may be left at Morehart Mortuary. Condolences may be made online at www.morehartmortuary.net.
