Bio

Clea Hjort Nadauld Browning, 91, of Idaho Falls, passed away on December 6, 2012, at her home. She was under the care of her family and Hospice of Eastern Idaho. She was born April 22, 1921, in St. Anthony, Idaho to George Amasa Hjort and Lura Ann Howard Hjort. She grew up and attended schools in that area. Following graduation from high school, she attended Ricks College. On July 31, 1941, in Las Vegas, Nevada, she married Wallace Max Nadauld. They lived in Long Beach, CA and Provo, UT, before moving back to Idaho, settling in Idaho Falls. Max died on November 6, 1982. On April 23, 1990, she married George A. Browning in Elko, NV. They lived in Wilsonville, OR for four years before moving back to Idaho Falls. Clea was a devoted wife, mother, and homemaker. She also worked as a secretary to the principal in St. Anthony for two years and as a Secretary at Geneva Steel in Provo, UT. Clea was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in the Relief Society and Primary organizations. She enjoyed sports, especially basketball and tennis. She was an expert knitter and made baby afghans for many of her grandchildren and for many years was proud to say she had made an afghan for every new baby in her ward. Clea's family would like to thank the wonderful staff and volunteers at Hospice of Eastern Idaho for their kind and gentle care of our Wife, Mother, and Grandmother. Survivors are her husband: George A. Browning, of Idaho Falls; daughters: Susan (Ronnie) Barnes and Linda Jo (Ray) Proctor, both of Idaho Falls, and Sally (Bret) Pangos, of Washington, UT; sons: Gary Kent (Kari) Nadauld and Timothy Max (Alisa) Nadauld, both of Idaho Falls; stepdaughter: Chris Browning (Doug) Brown, of Kingwood, TX; stepsons: G. Stephen (Michelle) Browning, of Lehi, UT, and David (Carolyn) Browning, of Twin Falls; 36 grandchildren, 60 great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren, and one great-grandchild on the way. She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Wallace Max Nadauld; brothers, Adrian Wood, Warner Wood and Don Hjort; sisters, Ruth Wood Peters and Beulah Wood Peterson; grandson, Gary "Jax" Barnes; and great-grandson, Evan Max Brown. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, December 11, 2012, at the Idaho Falls LDS Cedar Ridge Ward (3195 S. Holmes Ave.) with Bishop James Durrant officiating. The family will visit with friends on Tuesday from 10-10:45 a.m. prior to the services at the church. Burial will be in the Taylor Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to Hospice of Eastern Idaho, 1810 Moran Street, Idaho Falls, ID 83401.
