Wife of J. W. Miles According to the 1860 U.S. census, Mary Alice was living in Lawrence County, Alabama with her parents. During the 1870 U.S. census, Mary was living with her parents and three brothers in Lawrence County, Alabama. When the 1900 U.S. Census was recorded, John and Mary Alice were living in Hunt County, Texas. They have had 8 children and all of them are living in the household at this time. By looking at the children's birthplaces, this census also tells us that the family moved from Tennessee to Alabama sometime after 1885 and came to Texas by 1892. ∼ Daughter of Washington Hefner and Artie Crowder.
