The Columbus Daily Telegram - November 1957 Mrs. Henry Shemek, 66, of 960 25th avenue, died about 5:30 p.m. Thursday at her home. She had been ill the past year. Funeral services will be at St. Bonaventure Catholic church with the Rev. Fr. Roch Hettinger, pastor, officiating and burial will be in the parish cemetery. The body will lie in state at the Gahan Funeral home... Mrs. Shemek, born Feb. 25, 1891, near Silver Creek, was the former Hazel Frances Bump, daughter of Alonzo and Angeline Bump. She received her education in the Merrick county schools. On Jan. 15, 1919, she was united in marriage to Henry H. Shemek in Silver Creek and after residing there for a number of years, they moved to Madison and later to Cedar Rapids. For the past 35 years Mr. and Ms. Siemek have lived in Columbus. She was a member of St. Bonaventure Catholic church. Survivors include her husband, four daughters, Mrs. John A. (Lila) Micek, Mrs. Lonnie (Mary) Kuta, Mrs. Leon (Barbara) Hall, Mrs. Calvin (Helen) Santage, and two sons, Henry M. and Thomas, all of Columbus, and 23 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two son, Joseph and Leonard, on grandchild, her parents, two brothers, one sister and one half-brother. Contributor: diaNEB (47466150)
