Bio
John Dennis was married 3 times. The first was to Mary Froggue and they had 9 children including my grandfather. Their children were Minnie C., William Bowen, Ermine Serina, John Miller (my GF), Robert Henry, Nancy Zena (Nannie), Margaret Elizabeth (Bessie), Lucy Ellen, and Maletha J. (Lisha). The family appears in the 1880 Barren Co., KY census, the 1900 Greer Co., OK census and the 1910 Childress Co., OK census. John's 2nd marriage was to Anna F. Tucker, AKA Francis A. Tucker (I think at one point she swapped her first name for her middle name). This was her 3rd marriage. Anna's first marriage was to Tom F. Houchin prior to 1890. He died around 1899. They had 4 children, the youngest would have been about 13 when she married John. Anna appears in the 1900 Custer Co., OK census as a widow with her 4 children. Anna's second marriage was to R. Tucker in 1902. They had one child, Enos Tucker, born 1905. Anna appears in the 1910 Custer Co., OK census again as a widow and with all 5 of her children. Mr. Tucker died prior to 1910 since he wasn't in this census. John & Anna (Francis A.) Dennis and Enos Tucker all appear in the 1920 Custer Co., OK census. John and Anna/Francis apparently divorced prior to 1927 since John's 3rd marriage was to Amanda S. Wilson on Jan. 18, 1927. I'm guessing that they divorced since Anna didn't die until 1953 in Custer Co., OK, although, the 1940 Custer Co., OK census shows her as widowed, but with the Dennis surname. John was definitely dead by then, but he was also remarried in 1927. Anyway, John must have met Amanda in California because that is where they were married. They both appear in the 1930 Sutter Co., CA census. John died in 1932 and Amanda died in 1936.
