Ella Tillie Mueller was born January 23, 1915 near Fairfax, South Dakota to Frank and Minnie (Schultz) Pacl and she died November 23, 2012 at the Sanford Vermillion Care Center in Vermillion, South Dakota at the age of 97 years. Ella grew up and attended country school in the Fairfax area. She graduated from Fairfax High School and attended Southern State College. She graduated from Southern State with her teaching certificate. Ella was united in marriage to Curtis Orville Lunn on May 26, 1937. She continued to teach at various country schools throughout Gregory and Tripp counties, teaching for 26 years. Ella was known to her students as the teacher with high heels. She ultimately obtained her Bachelors Degree after several years of night school and summer school. After Curtis's death in October of 1963, Ella continued her teaching. She later met and married Jacob Mueller on May 30, 1976. Jacob and Ella spend the summers in Fairfax and the winters in Halstead, Kansas. Jacob died December 12, 1997. Ella spent 3 1/2 years as a resident of the Haisch Haus in Bonesteel before moving to the Vermillion Care Center in April of 2007. Ella enjoyed gardening, her flowers, fishing, visiting with family and friends and attending her grandchildren's events. Ella was preceded in death by her parents; her two husbands; her daughter, Bette Denker, six siblings and a great-grandson. Ella is survived by her son, Gene Lunn and wife Kate Stewart of Vermillion, SD; her daughter, Lynelle and husband Mike Stahlecker of Springfield, SD; her son-in-law, Don and Mary Lou Denker of O'Neill, Ne; nine grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, November 27, 2012 at 10:30 AM at Trinity Lutheran Church in Fairfax. Burial will be in the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, Fairfax. There will be a prayer service on Monday at 7:00 PM at the Church. Visitation will be one hour prior to both services at the church.
