Bio

Gaythia Scott, age 55 of Lexington, passed away Sunday, November 25, 2012, at the Lexington Nursing Home. Gaythia Carol McWhirter was born November 28, 1956 in Ft. Knox, Kentucky, the oldest of 6 children born to Sam Ellis McWhirter and Eva Lawanna (Wheeler) McWhirter. She was raised primarily in the Lexington and Purcell area. In her earlier years, she began working at Delta Head Start as a cook and later worked at United Design in Noble. She then began working as a Bookkeeper and secretary for her uncle Doc at Lawson Enterprise and for her aunt Bonnie Hackney at the Lexington Nursing Home. Gaythia cherished her family and was a proud mother of her three children; son Brian and daughters, Stephanie & Christy. She loved spending time cooking for her family and watching old movies. She enjoyed working cross word puzzles and never missed an opportunity to read a good book. Later in her 40's, she married her true love, Kenneth Scott and they made their home in Lexington. Gaythia loved the Lord and took every chance to tell people about Jesus. She was preceded in death by: Her son, Brian Walker; Her husband, Kenneth Eugene Scott; Her father, Sam Ellis McWhirter; Her mother and step father, Lawanna and Robert Mitchell and An infant sister, Deandra Gail. Gaythia leaves behind: Her daughters, Stephanie McWhirter and husband Shawn Stafford of Norman and Sgt. Christy Dell, US ARMY of Ft. Hood, TX; 1 brother, Marion McWhirter and wife Betty of Lexington; 3 sisters, Sherrie McWhirter of Lexington, Tamara Weiland and husband Mark of Minot, ND and Dorothy Celaya and husband Emiliano of Lexington; 6 granddaughters, Kadeja, Patricia, Sacora, Pamela, Destiny and Abbigail; Numerous aunts and uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews and friends. A Celebration of Life Service is scheduled for 10:00 A.M. Friday, November 30, 2012, at the First Baptist Church in Lexington. Burial will follow at the Hillside Cemetery in Purcell.
