Obituary Rains Co. Leader March 8, 2005 Marvin Pope 1912-2005 Funeral services for Marvin Pope, 92, of Alba, were held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, March 6, at Wilson-Bartley Funeral Home Chapel in Alba, with Frank Summers officiating. Burial was in Salem Cemetery in Alba under the direction of Wilson-Bartley Funeral Home of Alba. Pallbearers were Tod Byrd, Brian Adair, Jerry Scott Adair, Daniel Mosher, Ronny Sneed, and Colby Pope. Mr. Pope died Thursday, March 3, at ETMC, Quitman. He was born September 27, 1912, in Alba, to Bill and Ethel Harvey Pope and was a lifelong resident of Alba. He was a member of the Alba Church of Christ and was owner of Pope's Landing Marina on Lake Fork. He worked for Wood County, Pct. 1 for many years. He is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Johnny and Shelia Pope of Mineola; two daughters and one son-in-law, Jo Ann and Jerry Don Adair, and Dottie Alexander, all of Alba; two sisters, Mona Davis of Mineola and Ozella Taylor of Golden; 10 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Bernice Pope; daughter, Janoice Cobb; and three brothers.
