Last Rites Held for Levi Murphree Levi Murphree, 76, former mall carrier of Oneonta, died at the residence in Birmingham on Saturday morning, July 1st after an illness of several week's duration. Mr. Murphree, who was a native of Blount County, was a member of well-known Murphree family, who were among the first settlers of this section of Alabama. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Ada Murphree; 3 sons, Revace L. Murphree, of Atlanta, Ga.; Wallace W. Murphree, of Childersburg, Ala.; Marvin M. Murphree, of Birmingham; 2 daughter, Mrs. Roy Turk and Mrs. W. C. Gibbs, both of Birmingham; 5 grandchildren; 3 sisters, Mrs. Emma Hitt, of Gadsden, Ala.; Mrs. Celia Stevenson, of Arley, Ala.; Mrs. Dora Wilson, of Oneonta, Ala.; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held Sunday at 1:30 p.m. from Birmingham Gospel Tabernacle, the Revs. Glenn V. Tingley, Linwood Bowdoin and Lion Drummond officiating, interment Forest Hill Cemetery. Active pallbearers, the nephews. Honorary pallbearers, employees of Post office of Oneonta, Ala. Brown-Service, Norwood, directing.
