Velma (Davis) Runnels Feb 23, 1911 - Dec 29, 2009 Velma Davis Runnels, 98, of Orange witnessed nearly a century of this life and was surrounded by loving family as she peacefully passed from this life into the next on Dec. 29, 2009. Velma was born Feb. 23, 1911 in Mabank to W. J. and Sarah Davis. For over 30 years she worked at The Fair store in Orange. She was known to be an excellent seamstress and enjoyed bowling and gardening. She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, A. L. Runnels; her son, Brooklyn Runnels; her granddaughter, Barbara Ann Runnels Berardi; her sons-in-law, Frank Giarratano and E.P. Sosa; along with her six brothers and five sisters.Mrs. Runnels is survived by son, David Runnels and wife Frances; daughter, Evelyn Giarratano; daughter-in-law, Glenda Fay Runnels and son Lester Kelton Runnels with wife Cathie; 15 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great grandchildren. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 2, 2010, at Corley Funeral Home. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 2, 2010, at the Corley Funeral Home Chapel.
