Joy R. Boatright (June 21, 1920 - November 15, 2012) Joy R. Boatright passed away on November 15, 2012 at Rolling Plains Memorial Hospital. She was 92 years old. Services have been set for 11:00 a.m. on Monday, November 19, 2012 at First United Methodist Church with Reverend Brian Brownlow officiating. Interment will follow at Garden of Memories. The family will receive friends on Sunday, November 18, 2012 from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. at McCoy Funeral Home. Ms. Boatright was born on June 21, 1920 in Trumbull, Texas. She married Jake Boatright on August 10, 1940 in Sweetwater. Joy was a member of the First United Methodist Church as well as a member of the Chancel Choir and United Methodist Women. She was also a member of the Business Professional Women (BPW) along with Friends of The Museum. Joy was a co-owner of Cowen's Shoe Store. Joy has lived in Sweetwater since 1939. Survivors include: Son-Kent Boatright and his wife Donna of Sweetwater; Daughter-Carla Danford and her husband Gary of Ft. Worth; three Grandchildren-Lisa Clark of San Antonio, Caj Boatright of Kingwood, TX, Andrew Boatright of Ft. Worth; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins, and faithful friends-Jessica Messersmith and Tammy Flores. She was preceded in death be her husband, "Jake" Carl Boatright on December 21, 2002. In lieu of flowers, donation may be made to Pioneer Museum at 610 E. 3rd St., Sweetwater, TX 79556.
