John Liska Died Jan. 16 John Liska died at his home in north David City at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 16, at an advanced age. Funeral services were held at 2 o'clock Monday afternoon at the Home For Funerals, with Dr. C. A. Polson of the Congregational church in charge. The pallbearers were John Peltz, Frank Peltz, Rudolph Peltz, Albin Peltz, Wm. Kracman and Charles Kavan, nephews of the deceased. Burial was at Linwood. Those attending. the funeral from elsewhere were Mrs. John Havranek, son Edward and daughter Helen of Hemingford; Frank Liska, Hay Springs; Frank Codr and James Foltyn, Hemingford; Mr. and Mrs. F. F. McVenes and children, Mankato, Minn.; and relatives from Linwood, Schuyler, York and Columbus. John Liska was born in Rapotic, Moravia, in 1850, and came to the United States in 1881 with his family, they settling on a farm near Linwood. Later they moved to Hemingford, and came to David City in 1912. He is survived by two sons and two daughters, John of Woodburn, Ore., Frank of Hay Springs, Mrs. John Havranek of Hemingford and Mary of David City; 21 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
