Bio

Married Bridget Boland on January 5, 1873 in Buchanan County, Iowa. A well-digger, he fractured his skull in 1873 when a tub full of sand fell on him after the crank of a windless broke. An operation was performed. This occurred just 3 months into his marriage (provided by dwalsh #47092087). According to his burial card he died April 13, 1909, age 59 years, and was buried April 16. `````````````````` Evening World-Herald (Omaha, Nebr.), April 14, 1909, p. 1, col. 7 Nelson Hayes Nelson Hayes, Aged 59 years, died early Wednesday morning at his home, 616 Center street. He was a stone mason and had resided in Omaha for twenty-three years. The funeral will be held from St. Patrick's church Thursday morning. Interment, Holy Sepulcher.
