Thanks to Contributor diaNeb, #47466150, for the following: The Daily Independent (Grand Island, Nebraska) Wednesday, 17 December 1958 George Luethje, 61, 404 East Fourth, a Grand Island resident and employe of the Third City Livestock Commission Co., died Tuesday in a local hospital after suffering what apparently was a heart attack. Mr. Luethje was taken to the hospital by the city-county ambulance Tuesday from the Third City Livestock Commision Co. According to reports available this morning, Mr. Luethje was born May 30, 1897 (sic), and is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Minnie Janssen of Grand Island and Mrs. James Berryman of Greeley. He had been employed by the commission company for five to six years. The Geddes Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. ~~~~~ The Daily Independent (Grand Island, Nebraska) Friday, 19 December 1958 Funeral services for George O. Luethje will be conducted Saturday at 2 p.m. min the Methodist Church at Greeley. Burial will be in the Greeley Cemetery. Friends may call this evening from 7 to 9 o'clock at the Geddes Funeral Home. Mr. Luethje, 60, died Tuesday in a local hospital. His home was at 404 East Fourth. He was born May 30, 1898, at Elkhorn to Henry and Mollie Luetje. The family moved to Greeley in 1911 and he came to Grand Island 12 years ago. He had been employed at the Third City Livestock Commission Company. He had never married. Survivors include two sisters, Mrs. Minnie Janssen of Grand Island and Mrs. James Berryman of Greeley. He was preceded in death by his parents and a niece.
