Bio
Audrey "Doris" Kaminski, 83, of Richmond, passed away Friday, April 30, 2010. Doris was born Nov. 3, 1926 in Dry Creek, La. to Aubrey and Leta Cooley Singletary. Her childhood was spent with her siblings, Cecil and Jeanette, helping on the family farm. During high school, her family left Louisiana and moved to Orange where she graduated in 1944 from Lutcher Stark High School. After graduation, she moved to Houston where she worked as a licensed beautician and later in the banking industry. It was during this time that she met her husband, Floyd, and later married in 1948. Together, they settled in the Heights of Houston to raise their three children. In 1974, the family moved to Richmond to plan their retirement and be closer to family. Doris enjoyed sewing, gardening, canning, and spending time with her grandchildren. She was a wonderful and loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She is preceded in death by her parents, Aubrey and Leta Cooley Singletary. Doris is survived by her husband of 62 years, Floyd John Kaminski; sons, Gregory Kaminski and wife, JoAnn, and Gary Kaminski and wife, Debbie; daughter, Renee Kaminski Oelschleger and husband, J.W.; and five grandchildren, Amanda Kaminski Johnson and husband, Brian Johnson, Kevin Kaminski, Christopher Kaminski, Jordan Oelschleger, and Ross Oelschleger; brother, Cecil Singletary and wife, Vivian; sister, Jeanette Tawater and husband, Red; and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., with a 7 p.m. rosary, Monday, May 3, from 5-8 pm in the Chapel at Davis-Greenlawn Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 4, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Rosenberg. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park. Donations in memory of Doris Kaminski may be made to the M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, P.O. Box 4486, Houston, Texas, 77210-4486, or on-line at www.mdanderson.org, in lieu of flowers. Arrangements are under the direction of Davis-Greelawn Funeral Home, 3900 B.F. Terry Blvd. in Rosenberg, 281-341-8800.
